In Memory of Our Great Partner and Friend, Adam Jacobs

Sportgenic is deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of our friend and longtime partner Adam Jacobs.  Adam was the CEO and Founder of the TFS Network which included TheFinalSprint.com, HerActiveLife.com, and several other online properties aimed at supporting the passionate runner, fitness enthusiast and athlete.

Adam Jacobs was a strong supporter of Sportgenic and our mission to connect communities, like the ones he created and nurtured, with brands seeking to participate and give a little back.  We are forever grateful for his contributions to us and his friendship.  The Sportgenic team will always remember him as a capable, dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic, driven young man with a great sense of humor.

May all our hearts be eased by knowing that he has made such a positive impact on so many people.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Condolences and remembrances can be sent to Jodi L. Jacobs, 22 Longbow Drive, Englishtown, NJ 07726. Mrs. Jacobs encouraged mourners to make a donation in Adam’s name to their favorite running organization.

Creating an Even Greater Buzz

Today we celebrate a very exciting milestone in our  company’s relatively short history, not just for our dedicated employees but, most important, for our customers. With the acquisition of GolfBuzz, which we  announced this morning, Active Athlete has furthered its commitment to help both  advertisers and publishers connect with sports  enthusiasts.

Over the past two years, I’ve watched the development of  many wonderful online communities and, at the same time, technology advancing at  a rapid pace. It’s in the spirit of helping these communities continue to flourish that we continue to empower publishers with new loyalty-building and  revenue-generating tools. Such is the case with GolfBuzz’s proven content  management, social media and widget technology platform, which Active  Athlete will extend across its network of more than 180 sites, benefiting virtually any community of sports enthusiasts.

By continuing to combine our domain knowledge with emerging technology--for example, we recently leveraged advanced text messaging and Web browsing to engage a mobile audience for three Ironman events--Active Athlete is delivering innovative solutions that drive significant value for consumers, advertisers and publishers alike.

That’s what we’re all about, and our acquisition of GolfBuzz is testament to this. I encourage you to read more about the goodness of GolfBuzz in today’s press release. We are extremely excited to have their people and technology now part of the Active Athlete family!

Setting a goal and achieving it!

I'd like to congratulate my friend Jeff Wallace on his performance at Ironman Canada. I love it when I see someone set a goal and achieve it. For the last year Jeff worked hard and put all his energy into fulfilling his dream of doing an Ironman. He attacked the goal both physically and mentally. The results speak for themselves. Click here for official results.
Doing an Ironman is impressive but what might be more impressive is Jeff joined Active Athlete (his first day of employment) the next day at our company off-site and was in full motion.

Being a fan

This weekend I got to be a fan, the Yankees (old home town) and Giants (new home town) played a three game set. The atmosphere was playoff like. All the games were great. Giants won 2 of 3. I hope this vaults them onto something good. Barry played all three and even got to face the Rocket. Not sure we'll ever see that again. Pretty cool.

Second part of my weekend was cheering (remotely via www.ironman.com) for my friend Chris Lyman (of the famed Lyman PR firm) who competed in Ironman Coeur d'Alene. Congratulations on your great time. You crushed it.
